Sarah Sacks psychotherapist melbourne

About Sarah Sacks

I am a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor offering therapy and supervision in Melbourne and online across Australia.

Long before this, I grew up on a cattle farm in the remote Victorian high country. I studied and worked in Japan, lived in California, and spent years working across large international organisations in marketing and business.

That path, from a farm at the edge of things to corporate life on the other side of the world, gave me an unusual vantage point on how people navigate belonging, pressure, identity, and change. It also fed my genuine curiosity about what shapes us.

With my children beginning school, I chose to start again. I trained as a counsellor and psychotherapist. This shift was not as a departure from my previous life, but a deepening of what had always interested me most: people, and how they make sense of themselves and their worlds.

In the years since, I have worked in community health, not-for-profit environments, and private practice. Over 7 years, I built and grew a successful multi-practitioner practice before deciding to return to solo work and clinical supervision. All of these experiences inform how I work with therapists who are navigating their own professional paths today.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and depth-oriented. I work with the whole of your experience: thoughts, emotions, body, and all the patterns that have shaped you over time. I am trained in a wide variety of modalities, but tend to lean towards Internal Family Systems (IFS), Focusing and somatic approaches, mindfulness, and humanistic and phenomenological perspectives.

At the centre of my work is the therapeutic relationship. A deep, thoughtful space where real understanding becomes possible, and where lasting change can unfold.
